We are sad to report the passing of Masque co-founder, Alessandro Brun. It was announced yesterday on the brand’s social media account, along with the comment, “Thank you for your intuition, passion, and brilliance. We will be forever grateful to you”
Brun was born and raised in Milan in 1973, and as a child he loved listening to music and writing poetry with his mother, and staring at his father – a glass-blower artisan – in the workshop, creating enchanting artefacts in blown glass.
He spent a year in England, falling in love with its climate, pubs and Gothic literature.
On returning to Milan he graduated and became a professor at Politecnico di Milano, and was hence invited to lecture in several countries. Traveling provided him unforgettable experiences, which he captured in his travel-log. He focused his scientific research on luxury goods management, and developed first-hand knowledge of the Italian artisan heritage exploring leather – learning the technique of saddle-stitching – and goldsmith’s art – designing and creating handmade jewelry.
In 2010, he joined forces with Riccardo Tedeschi, to create something unique, with the ultimate goal of letting the whole world experience the excellence of the Italian craft. And Masque was born.
RIP, Alessandro Brun, 1973 – 2024.
