I am the beginning, the end, the one who is many. I am the Borg.” The Borg Queen, “Star Trek Next Generation: First Contact Movie”- November 22, 1996

ÇaFleureBon x Aether Arts Perfume cyBorg Queen is the first post-modern “Queen” in the “Queen Series (White Queen, Red Queen, Dark Queen, Drama Queen, Warrior Queen and Pirate Queen) and was created to commemorate ÇaFleureBon’s 13th anniversary on March 22, 2023.

Alice Krige originated the role of the Borg Queen via IMDB

ÇaFleureBon’s Editor-in-Chief, Michelyn Camen, enlisted award-winning perfumer Amber Jobin of Aether Arts Perfumes with a creative brief expertly matched to Amber’s aesthetic approach. Inspired by their mutual love of all the Star Trek series and movies, they found the Borg Queen to be a natural fit. Her cyborg body, part machine and part flesh, is both beautiful and monstrous. From outside the collective, she is seen as a futuristic Frankenstein. Amber’s vision was to create a paradigm shift and invokes the view of the Borg Queen as seen by her collective, from the inside, a perspective from within the hive. It was a natural meeting of the minds. As Amber describes, “within highly organized, collective insect communities, status is conferred by pheromones. The queen is the queen because she has queen pheromones. This special scent is wielded by only one female and it is she who rules the hive. The queen’s pheromone accord is the heart of cyBorg Queen – a sexy, indolic jasmine to attract while a rich gourmand almond note conveys nurturing and comfort. Her body of skin, polymers, and metals wafts her signature perfume, a silent but unmistakable message of dominance but also protection.”

ÇaFleureBon x Aether Arts Perfume cyBorg Queen continues to examine important modes of inquiry found in Touchstone, including ideas of connectivity and safety. Encapsulated within this fragrant project are modes of connection, such as the “touchstone” of cyber communication and the talisman of cellular contact. ÇaFleureBon itself is a touchstone connecting fragrance lovers around the world with the vital sparks of what is happening in niche and artisanal worlds of scent. As the reference electronic media site developed for niche perfumery, ÇaFleureBon has expanded our connectivity as a community in its 13 years.

CyBorg Queen for cafleurebon

The Borg Queen’s cyborg body is created of metal, polymers, and flesh. She brings order to the Borg, a fusion of organic and synthetic matter, and leads the relentless pursuit of perfection through assimilation of all lifeforms in the galaxy. The Borg Queen is traditionally interpreted as a personification of our increasingly mechanized society, representing the darker sides of industrial development.

cyBorg Queen opens with a lush indolic jasmine paired with an almond accord. The jasmine is honeyed and textured, thick and fleshy and very human. A gourmand almond accord settles gently around the jasmine, creating a warm and calming atmosphere, much like the last few moments of the night feel unwinding to dawn. The scent of steel and grey circuitry, slightly ozonic, rises in the heart. This aroma is electric! Some aspect of the air just before a storm, something metallic and charged, is present. Warm musk envelopes the metallic charges, offering a close and connected dry down. What is especially unique and brilliant about ÇaFleureBon x Aether Arts Perfume cyBorg Queen is how it flips the script on these outdated and misogynistic views of powerful female characters. Strong and beautiful, this Queen offers the scent of unexpectedly sensuality along with comfort, and protection.

Top Notes: indolic jasmine and almond accord; Middle Notes: Warm Wires and Synthetic Skin Accord; Base Notes: Metals and Musk Accord
