Eminence Staff Skin Care Secrets

Flexible Facial Cleanser

By now, you probably know the many benefits of charcoal in skin care. Derived from natural sources like coconut shells, bamboo and oak wood, this ingredient has become a staple in skin care for its ability to treat pore congestion. Charcoal captures and removes impurities, balances the skin and detoxifies — but its uses go even deeper than that. From managing sebum to exfoliating and deep cleansing, charcoal is a powerhouse ingredient for treating all sorts of pore-related issues. And when it comes to breakouts and blemishes, we know that they can appear in places other than the face. Debbie, our Director of Marketing Operations, uses the Charcoal Exfoliating Gel Cleanser to cleanse and exfoliate her back — an area that we often overlook when we think of acne-prone skin. Many of our cleansers are not just for the face!

Pure Energy

Our Creative Director, Choo, likes to take the warm, exfoliating sensation that comes with the Turmeric Energizing Treatment to the next level. Instead of adding water to turn the powder into a fluffy and energetic mousse, she uses the Birch Water Purifying Essence to activate the product. Ingredients like snow mushrooms, reishi mushrooms, birch water and botanical collagen add hydration to the list of benefits that come with this unique exfoliating, invigorating and deep cleansing experience.

Hydration Hacks

The secret to hydrated skin from Jennifer, one of our Digital Project Managers, is a game-changer for all skin types. “I’ve been using the Stone Crop Hydrating Mist after I cleanse my face to dampen it right before I apply the Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Serum. I’ve read that hyaluronic serum is more effective when it’s applied to damp skin, so I’ve been trying that for my dry skin and it’s been helping to lock in the moisture.” She may have read it here and she’s not wrong!

Applying moisturizers to damp skin is also recommended for the rest of the body. Product Support Representative, Alicia, applies the Yuzu Solid Body Oil in the shower to “enhance skin’s hydration and keep moisture on lock.” Another great product to apply to moist skin is the Apricot Body Oil, which is packed with nourishing vitamins and hydrating oils.

AHA Moment

Our Digital Marketing Coordinator, Nayeli, has a trick that helps her hair removal routine go smoothly: “I like to apply the Pineapple Refining Tonique on my arms and legs 24–48 hours after shaving and then follow with the Yuzu Body Oil or Apricot Body Oil to help moisturize. I find the AHA in the tonique provides gentle exfoliation, helping with ingrown hairs and dark spots on my legs and arms. I would definitely say you’d need to apply a good sunscreen on those areas afterwards, as the AHA causes your skin to be more sensitive to the sun.” For more hair removal tips, click here.

Double Down Cleanse

Alyssa, our Digital Project Manager, has a dynamic duo for cleansing in the morning. She amps up the healthy-looking glow she gets from the Kombucha Microbiome Foaming Cleanser by adding a couple of shakes of the Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant for a light exfoliation that leaves her skin fresh and refined.

Handy Hints

Alyssa also has a hack for handling dry hands. “I put the Kombucha Microbiome Leave-On Masque on my hands at night! I check it after 10 minutes but there is usually nothing left to wipe off. It has been so nice for my hands this winter.”

While we’re on the subject, Senior Production Artist, Yukiko, uses the Linden Calendula Treatment on her hands overnight when they’re extra dry in the winter. She seals it in with cotton gloves and they’re soft and moisturized by morning. Other members of the Eminence Organics team have similar advice when it comes to adding moisture to the hands. One uses the Bakuchiol + Niacinamide Moisturizer morning and night and another swears by the Strawberry Rhubarb Masque. After applying it to her face and neck, she rubs the excess onto the backs of her hands and then washes everything off after 10 minutes.

As Product Support Team Lead, Nadira is the expert on all things related to our formulations. She’s tried them all and knows how the ingredients work and interact. Needless to say, we take her advice very seriously! We asked her to share some of her favorite ways to combine Eminence Organics products with you.

Spot Treatment

“When my skin is feeling a bit oily and congested, I love to go in with the Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant to exfoliate my skin. Instead of washing it off right away, I leave it on the areas where I experience enlarged pores and excess oil secretion. Keeping the product on allows the heilmoor clay and various polishing flours (rice, chickpea and oat) to absorb excess oils and lift impurities off the skin. Once dried down for a few minutes, I emulsify and remove before continuing on to the next step in my skin care routine.”

Dullness Destroyer

Another tip she shares is to apply the Turmeric Energizing Treatment and let it set for about 10 minutes before layering the Lime Stimulating Masque over top. This double dose of antioxidants combined with the extra kick of heat and Vitamin C will further brighten even the dullest complexion.

Perfect Combination

Mixing and layering treatments and masks is a favorite hobby of a lot of Eminence Organics team members. One suggestion for combination skin (oily t-zone and dry cheeks) is to use the Acne Advanced Clarifying Masque on the nose and chin and a moisturizing mask like the Coconut Cream Masque on the cheeks. Doing both at once saves time and leaves skin fresh and balanced.
