London department store, Liberty, is adding two new Oud fragrances to its LBTY. Collection which launched in October last year.
Ianthe Oud and Hera Reigns offer a unique twist on traditional oud scents, blending classic elements with unexpected contemporary notes to redefine the oud experience. Ianthe Oud combines the English Violet with the deep richness of Oud, while Hera Reigns marries Jasmine and Oud Wood.
Ianthe Oud was created for Liberty by perfumer Nicholas Bonneville and is inspired by Liberty’s Ianthe print, featuring intertwining wood and abstract florals. Top notes of Moroccan Mimosa absolute And Bergamot Oil from Italy lead to a heart of Violet Flower, Myrrh Oil and Atlas Cedarwood. the dry down features Agarwood, Olibanum SFE, Guaiac wood, Patchouli Indonesia, and a Leather Accord.
Bonneville says, “I wanted to create an unexpected pairing of something inherently English with something from a different part of the world. The iconic English Violet flower imparts an earthy green naturality and holds its own when contrasted with Oud wood which adds depth and together, they create a harmony of deep, leathery sensuality.”
Hera Reigns draws inspiration from the iconic Hera print, adorned with feathers as a tribute to the Greek goddess, Hera Reigns opens with sparkling notes of Pink Pepper, followed by a heart of Indian Jasmine Absolute and Brazilian Gardenia. The base features Cypriol, Olibanum SFE, Oud Natureprint®, and Wood Leather.
The perfume was created by Honorine Blanc, who says, “I wanted to create something noble and so the queen of flowers: Jasmine Sambac, is enveloped by her sophisticated partner of Oud Wood. Together they weave back and forth between noble elegance and brilliant naturality.”
Both fragrances are available now for £225 for 100ml at Liberty and online at Liberty.com
